ABOUT GLEANINGS
Gleanings was founded in 2005 by two 15-year-old students that recognized a real need in their community. When Martha Jacobs entered high school she became increasingly aware of the issues plaguing her community and decided to continue her brothers legacy. Her brother, Mark Jacobs and friend Gabe Nemzow started this organization when they couldn’t help but notice all the overripe fruit on the trees, in their neighbor's yards, along the street, and all over the ground. They decided to form an organization for their fellow classmates to earn community service hours, while benefiting the community at large.
Enter Gleanings – a non-profit organization that picks your fruit, and donates and distributes the fruit to food banks, charities, and directly to those that need it most.
