Apply for Grants

  • Gleanings, Inc. has grants allocated to help new chapters get started. Grants can be applied towards purchasing equipment, or for costs related to planting new trees at homes and organizations in your area.

Reach out to Homeowners

  • Finding homeowners with excess fruit is one of the main goals of gleanings. Homeowners who are happy with our volunteering will help use spread and achieve our goals by suggesting us to their friends and neighbors.

Contact your local food bank

  • Our energy would be wasted unless our fruit gets to those who need it most! A good relationship with local food banks and other volunteer organizations help ensure that our efforts are as effective as they can be!

Get to know the students in your area

  • Gleanings works best when you get to know other community-minded students in your area. Be neighborly!

Develop relationships with plant nurseries in your area

  • Local nurseries can be a good source of plants, as well as a place to acquire knowledge and skills regarding planting, harvesting, and even healthy eating. Meeting and involving those with knowledge of plants and planting can be educational and beneficial for both you and the organization!
