A huge untapped resource in our society goes to waste, and that resource is present in your yard. This resource is the hundreds of fruit trees that are not picked and whose fruit is left to fail. Fruit can be picked and donated for you by Gleanings. Because there are no out-of-pocket expenses to you, fruit from your trees is a great way to donate.

 

Gleanings is a non-profit organization whose members pick your fruit and donates it on your behalf. The fruit donations will be distributed to food banks, charities, and directly to those that need it most. If you don’t have fruit trees, or you gather your own fruit, you can still donate. Please send your gift to Gleanings. These donations will be used to buy equipment or to support Gleanings’ operations.

 

In addition to picking fruit from already existing trees, Gleanings affirms its commitment to sustainable healthy eating and the next generation by helping plant fruit trees. Gleanings offers grants to purchase and plant fruit trees in our neighborhoods that can then be picked by the next generation of Gleaners. If you would like to request your local Gleanings chapter to plant a tree on your property or are a Gleaner requesting a tree for one of our patrons, please email us.
